Students from the Media Arts Department received their Associate of Arts degree from Los Angeles Pierce College at the end of the spring 2014 semester.
This year eight Media Arts students completed the requirements to obtain an Associate of Arts degree.
The degree recipients include:
Jonathan Andrino-Vela (transferring to Cal State Long Beach)
Anabella Apfelbaum
Carlos Carpio
Lisa-Marie DeWinkeleer (transferring to California State University, Northridge)
Megan Moureaux (transferring to California State University, Northridge)
Amber-Rose Kelly (transferring to New York University)
Tim Toton
Michel Williams
“The Media Arts Department gave me very good support and they helped work with my limitations and abilities,” Tim Toton, recent Media Arts graduate said. “It feels like closure to graduate.”
A few graduating students from the Media Arts Department attended the Los Angeles Pierce College 66th Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday June 10, 2014. More than 500 Pierce graduates met at Rocky Young Park at 6 p.m. to celebrate their collegiate success.
Before turning their tassels the students listened to student speaker Krishna Lou Ayungao and keynote speaker Tavis Smiley, a broadcaster, author and currently a late-night talk show host on PBS. Graduates received their diplomas and shook hands with President Kathleen Burke and Trustee Scott J. Svonkin.
The Media Arts Department offers courses in a variety of disciplines including: multimedia, photography, cinema, journalism, public relations and broadcasting. Students learn through hands-on training from experienced professors and gain practical experience by working on the department’s award-winning publications, which include, The Roundup newspaper, The Bull Magazine, and KPCRadio.
