Fall 2014 – Journalism – Limited Assignment

Located on about 426 acres in the West San Fernando Valley, Pierce College combines state-of-the-art technology and learning with the picturesque beauty of its rolling hills. Pierce College’s Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE) is pleased to announce a limited contract eight-week position teaching Journalism in our Norwalk Satellite location from October 27 to December 24, 2014. Interviews are to take place in July 2014.
This position is open to Journalism instructors currently employed full or part-time in the Los Angeles Community College District, as well as, those who meet the minimum qualifications for teaching Journalism in the District and have teaching experience, preferably PACE experience or experience with short-term or non-traditional programs.
The minimum qualifications for teaching Journalism in the LACCD are as follows:
• Master’s in journalism OR communication with a specialization in journalism OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, business administration, marketing, graphics, or photography OR the equivalent.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.
Salary and Benefits:
PACE faculty are monthly rate employees; salary is based upon education and experience. The Los Angeles Community College District office offers a competitive benefits package for the employee and eligible dependents including medical, dental vision, and a life insurance policy.
