Tracie Savage has worked on the air in broadcast journalism in Los Angeles since 1991, reporting and anchoring for KCAL-TV, KNBC-TV, KFWB-Radio and Time Warner Cable. Through the years, she has covered nearly every major news story, both local and from around the world.
She was on the air the night Barack Obama was elected president and the day Michael Jackson died. She was the principle field reporter for the O.J. Simpson civil and criminal trials, covering both from opening to closing. She reported live from the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, which included the night of the Olympic Park bombing. Savage also went on site to Oklahoma City following the bombing of the Federal Building.
Savage has handled breaking news, politics, crime, entertainment and even sports. While working as the evening drive anchor for KFWB Radio, Savage produced and hosted a Los Angeles Dodgers pre-game show for five years. She earned a Golden Mike Award for Sports Reporting in her first year as a sports anchor.
Savage has earned four L.A. Area Golden Mike Awards and two L.A. Area Emmy Awards. As a direct result of her work during the Simpson trial, and her refusal to reveal sources, she was honored with the “Bill Farr Award” by the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association, which recognized her “professional journalistic integrity.”
Prior to being hired as a full-time faculty member in Media Arts by Pierce College, Savage was an adjunct college professor for five years.
Savage grew up the San Fernando Valley in a “show biz” family, doing her first TV commercial at the age of 2. She appeared in numerous commercials, TV shows and movies. The acting credit her students enjoy most is her co-starring role in “Friday the 13th, Part 3.”
