Michael Rogers, a veteran Hollywood gaffer, is scheduled to speak about the film industry and lighting in the Great Hall at Pierce College at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Rogers started his career in entertainment at the University of Miami in theater arts and eventually worked in the Hollywood film industry for almost 50 years. He was involved in filming the Vietnam War and later formed his own corporation to contract out trucks, crews lighting and grip equipment.
He has worked as a lighting director, or gaffer, and became a green screen technology expert. He also helped pioneer LED lighting in the industry. He lives in Tarzana.
