The Journalism Association of Community Colleges and the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association – Los Angeles are making thousands of dollars available to journalism students through a variety of scholarships.
The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association – Los Angeles (NLGJA-LA) will issue up to $1,000 in scholarships to students who are currently enrolled in colleges or universities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura or San Diego counties. Scholarship applications should be submitted as PDFs via email. Applications need to be emailed to Greg Hernandez at greg@greginhollywood.com. In addition, the JACC board is offering $3,000 in scholarships. According to JACC, there are two $750 scholarships that will be awarded to either a transfer or a continuing student. Applications are due by March 10.
The remaining scholarships will be awarded in the name of the JACC’s Distinguished Service to Journalism Education Award.
Scholarships will be awarded to the students at the keynote presentation at the 2014 JACC State Convention in Burbank on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
