Nearly 40 photographs taken by Pierce College Media Arts Department students will be display Monday, Oct. 25 through Thursday, Oct. 28 in the Pierce College Art Gallery.
The 34th annual Photo Salon will feature 37 photographs, including studio photography, portraits, landscapes, still life, life studies and photojournalism.
The opening reception of the Photo Salon will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The Photo Salon entries are contributed by students enrolled in Media Arts Department courses during the spring and fall semesters. Classes include photojournalism, digital imaging and beginning and advanced photography.
The exhibition is funded by the ASO and the Pierce College Foundation and is a joint effort between the Art Department and the Media Arts Department.
Monika Del Bosque, assistant professor of art and the gallery director, said the exhibit also provides hands-on experience for students enrolled in Art 519, her Display Techniques class.
“This semester the exhibition is the learning lab for the display techniques class,” she said.
Helping to organize the exhibition are student gallery assistants Roya Mesriani and Louis DellaRippa, as well as Armando Macias, the gallery preparador.
In addition to the opening reception, the Photo Salon hours are:
1 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday
10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday
