The Pierce College Media Arts Department is pleased to announce the first Speaker Series event of the spring 2020 semester.
Madison Brunoehler, a voice artist with work spanning the entertainment spectrum, will speak on Monday, March 9, at 11:10am in The Great Hall.
Brunoehler's voice has appeared on National Geographic, in video games and in ad campaigns across the country. Admission is free and open to faculty, staff and the community. The event is presented by the Media Arts Department and sponsored by ASO.

Learn the skills needed to work on every digitally produced film during the Digital Imaging Technician workshop this Friday, May 17 from 2-5 p.m. in Room 8300 in the Village. The DIT workshop will feature veteran cinematographer Marty Mullin. This free event is open to all and could help launch your new career today.

Pierce photographers will join students from seven other area colleges during College Night at the Getty Center to showcase their work Monday, April 29 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The one night event is themed "Dreaming in Color," and will celebrate color in all its forms, its essence in our dreams, the meaning we give it and the future possibilities it opens.
The night will feature live music by Kronika, art-making activities, scientific experiments, free food, museum tours, a cash bar and exciting surprises.
The event is free, but the Getty asks that everyone attending RSVP at Getty.edu.

Pulitzer Prize-Winning photographer Nick Ut, who captured the famous image of children running from the painful fire of napalm in Vietnam will speak to Pierce students April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Building 600 as part of the Media Arts Speaker Series.
Nick Ut went on to become a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations, win several other photography awards, work as an Associated Press photographer and open the AP office in Hanoi in 1993.
His presentation will be followed by a question and answer period. Don't miss this Pulitzer Prize-Winning photographer!

PR and media expert Kathleen Dunleavy will speak at the Great Hall Thursday, April 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. She will be sharing her many years of experience establishing media relations programs and the skills she learned working to develop marketing campaigns for Sprint and Pace University.
The presentation on social media advertising, publicity campaigns, community relations projects and crisis communications will be followed by a question and answer period. Don't miss this exciting event.

Pierce College’s own Gerard Burkhart is currently being featured as the Artist in Residence at the Mojave National Preserve with his “Shimmering Sky” exhibit.
Showcasing the skills he mastered working as a LA Times photographer, Burkhart’s exhibit features breathtaking photos of Mojave desert captured in his own style.
Burkhart, a self-described photo educator, also worked for the New York Times, Washington Post, and Philadelphia Inquirer along with various wire services before coming to Pierce College in 2008.

Emmy Award winning filmmaker Shane Stanley spoke to a Great Hall crowded with film and journalism students Monday sharing his experience as a filmmaker with a room full of aspiring artists.
Saying he, “had no agenda,” Stanley spoke without notes or accompanying power point presentation in a “town hall” style session full of personal anecdotes and professional advice for the aspiring actors, writers and directors in the crowd.
