KNX 1070 radio reporters to visit Pierce College

Two radio anchors from KNX 1070 AM, the Los Angeles area’s only 24/7 news station, will be in the Great Hall at noon Tuesday, March 22 to talk to students, faculty, staff and the community about their careers and how they got started at Pierce College. Randy Kerdoon (sports) and Tommy Jaxson (traffic) were students at Pierce College in the 1970s and worked together for the college’s student-run KPCR radio station. Media Arts Department Speaker Series to kick off again

KNX 1070 radio anchors, documentary filmmaker, multimedia producer to visit Pierce College this spring SAVE THE DATES! This semester the Pierce College Media Arts Department will welcome esteemed speakers from the radio, film and website worlds as part of its Speaker Series events in the Great Hall. Creator of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Meets With Students, Faculty

Emmy and Annie-nominated director, writer and songwriter Dan Povenmire will be a guest speaker at Pierce College at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25 in the Great Hall. Povenmire has spent 20 years in the animation industry directing, storyboarding and/or writing for projects including The Simpsons, Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, Catdog, Looney Tunes, SpongeBob Squarepants and Family Guy. L.A. Times Sports Columnist Bill Plaschke Visits Pierce

Los Angeles Times sports columnist Bill Plaschke will be a guest speaker at Pierce College at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 in the Great Hall. Plaschke was named National Sports Columnist of the Year by the Associated Press and National Headliners during his 21st year with the L.A. Times. He has been a Pulitzer Prize entrant and his work has been featured in several editions of the annual "Best American Sports Writing" book. 34th Annual Photo Salon Showcases Student Work

Nearly 40 photographs taken by Pierce College Media Arts Department students will be display Monday, Oct. 25 through Thursday, Oct. 28 in the Pierce College Art Gallery. The 34th annual Photo Salon will feature 37 photographs, including studio photography, portraits, landscapes, still life, life studies and photojournalism. The opening reception of the Photo Salon will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Film Festival to Showcase Student Work

Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010— Dramas, comedies, music videos, animation, documentaries and commercials will be showcased during Crossfade, a free student film festival hosted by Los Angeles Mission College and Pierce College from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at Laurel Canyon Stages in Arleta. In addition to the film festival, Crossfade will also feature a vendor exhibition from noon to 2 p.m. with companies including Sony, Panasonic and Kino Flo.
