Four Pierce College Media Arts students have qualified for the national SkillsUSA competition after winning their categories at the state conference in San Diego this weekend.
Christian Cheock and DeShawn Cavanaugh won gold in television (video) production, and Mohammad Djauhari and Tanya Castaneda won gold for audio/radio production. Taylor Arthur won silver for photography. To advance to the state level, the students had to receive qualifying scores at a regional competition in Los Angeles.
The Pierce College students arrived in San Diego at the conference on Thursday with the competition taking place Friday and Saturday. The results were announced Sunday morning.
The national competition will take place June 19-23 in Louisville, Ky.
