The Pierce College Media Arts Department hosted about 40 local high school journalism students recently as part of newspapers2, a four-day workshop featuring news writing, design and online reporting classes.
Faculty members Amara Aguilar, Jeff Favre and Stefanie Frith taught the classes at Pierce. Newspapers2 is owned by Konnie Krislock, a long-time high school journalism adviser.
Students learned design basics, how to write news and feature stories, how to produce audio slideshows and more. There were also guest speakers, including former Pierce College student Portia Medina, who is now freelancing for The Hollywood Reporter.
