Media Arts students win magazine, newspaper awards

Pierce College Media Arts students won a dozen awards this week for the student-run magazine and newspaper at the California College Media Awards contest.

The Bull Magazine staff won second place for best magazine website and honorable mention for best magazine. The Roundup staff won third place for best editorial. There were also nine individual awards, including Alan Castro winning first place for magazine photo.

These are the winners from Pierce College:
2nd place Best Magazine Website: The Bull Magazine staff
Best Magazine Photo, 1st place: Alan Castro
Best Magazine Page/Spread Design, 3rd Place: Skylar Lester
Best Magazine Cover Design, 2nd place: Richie Zamora
Best Magazine Community College, Honorable Mention: The Bull staff
Best Multimedia Presentation, 2nd Place: Samantha Bravo, Brian Caldera, Taylor Arthur, Jose Herrera, Nadine Gostantian, Joshua Manes
Best Photo Series, Third Place: Taylor Arthur and Laura Chen
Best Photo Illustration, 3rd place: Taylor Arthur
Best Sports Photo, 2nd Place: Ezzat Wanas
Best Sports Story, 2nd Place: Maria Trinidad
Best Editorial, Third Place: Roundup Staff
Best Feature Story, Honorable Mention: Skylar Lester (Connie’s Creepy Creations)

The California College Media Association, founded 2003, is a statewide organization that promotes education and cooperation among community colleges and universities in California.
