A reporter and editor will be the featured guest this month for the Media Arts Department Speaker Series at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 in the Great Hall at Pierce College.
Walter Hammerwold currently works at the Daily News. He has covered the Olympics and four Rose Bowls. His work has appeared in multiple Southern California newspapers.
The Pierce College Media Arts Department Speaker Series is a free program that welcomes esteemed speakers from the radio, film, journalism and website worlds.
The events are a semester-long effort funded by the ASO. Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited. Faculty can receive Flex Credit for attending.
Refreshments will be served. Parking is available for $2 in Lot 1, near the Sheriff’s Station off Brahma Drive and Winnetka Avenue.

“Walter Hammerwold has been a reporter and editor since the late 1990s. His work has appeared in virtually every paper in Los Angeles County, including The Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Daily News, the Daily Breeze and the Pasadena Star-News. As a sports reporter, he covered four Rose Bowls and wrote extensively about Olympic athletes. In 2008, he spent a week in Colorado, serving as an editor for The Denver Post in its coverage of the Democratic National Convention.
He currently works for the Los Angeles Daily News as part of the Los Angeles News Group’s consolidated news desk.”
