PROGRAM INFORMATION
The courses required under the social media certificate teach students about digital communication, including how to tell stories with images, explaining complex ideas to large audiences, recording events in real-time, developing a digital brand identity, cultivating an audience, and social media ethics. Although social media is easily accessible and used by many, it takes a curated skill set to utilize these platforms to the fullest, whether as a journalist a marketer or a public relations specialist. This program helps to students to develop skills to enter these career paths and have opportunities to see their work promoted or published by student publications, such as The Roundup and The Bull.
