Sony Pictures foley artist to speak at Pierce

Monday, Nov. 4, 2013— Foley artist Jeff Gross, whose credits include “Moneyball,” “Lincoln Lawyer,” “Zombieland” and “Community” will be in the Great Hall discussing how to create and mix sound for film and television at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 as part of the Pierce College Media Arts Department Speaker Series.

Gross is a long-time audio guru who took music and electronic music classes at Pierce College. Gross spent years doing recording sessions, touring live and performing music before he began working in field production recording for television and film projects in Los Angeles. He started building his resume writing music for “Baywatch,” MTV’s “Road Rules” and the “Real World” programs, FOX, CNN and for the film “Pool Hall Junkies.”

In 2005 Gross started exploring the world of sound for film and TV. He fell in to the foley world and eventually ended up mixing at Sony Pictures. There he’s worked on films and TV shows including “Moneyball,” “Zombieland,” “Runner Runner,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” “Masters of Sex,” “Blacklist,” “Ray Donavan,” “Lincoln Lawyer,” “That’s My Boy,” “Grown Up’s 1&2,” “Jack and Jill,” “Takers,” “Justified,” “Franklin and Bash,” “Necessary Roughness” and “Community.”

This well-known foley artist will visit Pierce as part of the Pierce College Media Arts Department Speaker Series, a free program that welcomes esteemed speakers from the radio, film, journalism and website worlds.

The events are a semester-long effort funded by the Associated Students Organization. Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited. Faculty can receive Flex Credit for attending.

Refreshments will be served. Parking is available for $3 in Lot 1, near the Sheriff’s Station off Brahma Drive and Winnetka Avenue.
